For my first blog post on The Real Jerusalem Streets six years ago, I heard that there were riots in the Old City. I immediately grabbed my camera and went as fast as I could. When I got to the Western Wall I found thousands of tourists who had not heard the Hebrew radio broadcast and were having a great time. There were no prize winning photos, just another normal day.
This year I went to the Old City on Simchat Torah to see what was happening, but I had no camera on the holiday. I saw more birds perched on the lower stones of the Western Wall than security personnel. The most visible security I saw was at the he Great Synagogue. Guards were posted by the food tables, ready for an elegant Simhat Torah kiddush.
When I saw my friend Tali posting photos on Facebook today, I asked permission to share a few. Yes, the situation is serious. Incited by the Arab media, people have been getting attacked, hurt and killed from Afula to Kiryat Gat. Now another female has joined the terror network by stabbing a guard in Afula. It is hard to keep up with them all and to keep count.
However, take a look and see what was happening in the Old City this morning.
