Reader Post: The Delegitimization Of Israel

Kosel, Western Wall image on Passover. With one resolution, the UN just completely delegitimized Israel’s right to exist. They erased the Jewish right (not “claim” like the “balanced” media says) to the Temple Mount. Oh, I’m sorry, I mean “The Noble Sanctuary” of the Al Aqsa Mosque. I didn’t realize that is for what King Herod built it two thousand years ago.

“But Yosef! Sure the UN condemning Israel’s ‘occupation’ of the Temple Mount and the Western Wall was bad, but it wasn’t THAT bad, and it most certainly did not require that level of sarcasm!”

Well my response to that is this: yes it is that bad and also I like sarcasm, get over it.

Now, here’s why it is that bad.

We all know that the state of Israel is not in Uganda, despite something similar being proposed in the early 1900s. The Uganda proposal was never intended to be a permanent alternative to Israel becoming the Jewish state, but rather a temporary place to protect Russian Jews. That being said, anti-Israel people often don’t know that or deliberately ignore it and falsely claim the Zionists considered making the country of Israel in Uganda. So the Uganda proposal was rejected when it was first proposed even as a temporary solution while working to a bigger and better goal, the State of Israel – in the Land of Israel, its historic location. We know it was rejected as a temporary proposal but what about as a permanent one? Well, of course it would have been rejected – in fact, it wouldn’t even have been proposed (and it wasn’t) because we have no business making a state in Uganda! We, the Jews, have no reason to be in Uganda – Uganda belongs to the Ugandans, the Jews have no history there.

We do, however, have history here in Israel, and it stares you in the face. The Temple Mount was built by Herod for the JEWISH temple on the site – just ask any legitimate historian. The only debate is the exact location ON the Temple Mount. You can even check out this pamphlet produced by the Supreme Muslim council in 1925 (on page 4 “Its identity with the site of Solomon’s Temples is beyond dispute”). Not to mention the City of David (which I had the huge pleasure and honor of helping excavate in area E this year), as well as the many other archaeological sites in and around Jerusalem and the rest of the country proving Jewish presence and control in ancient times. Like the seal of the Jewish king Hezekiah, king of the kingdom of Judea, who was named in the bible. But don’t worry, I’m sure that he along with Jesus were good Palestinians.

We chose to return to our historic homeland to be our own masters and fulfill the dream of two thousand years of returning. We all know this, its common knowledge that this is our land. However the UN came and just flat-out ignored history and denied our history in this land. If according to the UN we were never here, what right do we have to build a state here? What right do we have to say this Friday “Next year in the rebuilt Jerusalem” during our Passover meals?

Ok, I’ll admit that’s a bit far off, but it’s on paper and now it’s possible to make arguments that the Jews were never here based on actual UN documents! This may seem like a pointless argument but if we don’t speak up now then they will know that we allow filth like this slide, and we can’t have that happen.

As I’m writing this, there are reports of a bus bombing, the first in a long time. We have fought too long and hard to let the UN of all organizations (which approved the creation of our state) to undermine the only state that is a true example of self-determination and an indigenous people returning to their ancient homeland. The UN has been off the rails for a long time now, but this time it has gone way too far. They just keep on proving again and again that it does not work towards the betterment of humanity but the selfish betterment of the largest bidder. While they may put the words of our prophet Isaiah on their walls – “They shall beat their swords into plowshares and they shall not know war” – they seem to deny Isaiah ever existed.
