Israeli judoka Or Sasson has responded to Egyptian judoka Islam El Shehaby’s disgraceful act of unsportsmanlike conduct in the best way possible – by winning an Olympic medal, in this case a Bronze.
“You’ve shown that if one wants something enough, the dream is achievable,” Netanyahu told Sasson Saturday, adding that he made “an entire nation happy.”
Sasson thanked the prime minister for his kind words, saying he was proud of his country.
“It is a great privilege to represent the beautiful face of Israel,” Sasson told Netanyahu.
This is actually Israel’s second Bronze medal at the Rio Olympics, following Yarden Gerbi’s win in the same sport a few days ago – bringing the overall total of Israeli Olympic medals to 9, 5 of which have been in judo.
Well done Or. You have indeed showed the world Israel’s beautiful face.
