Following my my post exposing and poking holes in the new water libel against Israel – as well as a follow-up post bemoaning the media’s collusion in spreading it – palestinian officials in Gaza have seemingly reacted to my posts, now changing their story to claim the tower was hit again in the latest strike. As Honest Reporting notes:
In an exclusive conversation with Times of Israel, HonestReporting learned that Palestinian officials in Gaza are claiming that the water tower was hit in the strike, and that higher quality photographs seem to show what may be some damage in addition to the damage from 2015. It is unclear, therefore, whether the claim by Palestinian officials is true, partially true, or entirely fabricated.
In either case, it is one thing for Reuters to report a dubious claim by local residents or officials. It is an entirely different thing for Reuters to cover up evidence that the claim may be partly or completely untrue.
And sure enough, the photo and caption appearing on the Times of Israel post has gone from this:
to this:
I have not seen the “higher quality photographs” which “seem to show what may be some damage in addition to the damage from 2015”, according to Honest Reporting. But I have looked at the video on the Jerusalem Post report of the strike, and cannot see any difference between the damage shown there, and the damage shown in the photo from 2015.
But that’s not the point. If you have to look at “high quality photographs” to discern any further damage, then clearly the damage is relatively minor. And bear in mind the original claim was the tower was targeted, with some going as far as to say it was in an attempt to make the people of Gaza die of thirst.
Now given our rockets can flatten terror bases, I am sure had we targeted the water tower, you would not need to squint at high quality photos to see the new damage. Heck, the tower would likely not be standing at all.
There isn’t enough water in any tower that could put out all those palestinian pants on fire right now.
