An Important Message For Pro-Israel Advocate Hananya Naftali
There is an Israeli YouTuber called Hananya Naftali, who has put out some relatively successful pro-Israel videos. I even published one of his as a reader submission.
I admire his passion for Israel, and appreciate the work he is doing.
But there’s a big but.
I was aware for a while that he identifies as Christian (which is of course fine with me). But then I saw his latest video today:
Hananya says clearly “..or that I am Jewish.”
Which means that Hananya is actually a “Messianic Jew.”
Then I discovered this video, which does not seem to be on his YouTube channel.
It sounds very much to me like Hananya is missionizing in the army, albeit subtly.
This is a huge no-no in my books.
Notice also how is almost blaming Jewish reluctance to accept Jesus on our persecution – as opposed to, say, our beliefs, which are very clear about it.
As I recently posted, I am a fan of our Christian supporters – I am secure in my beliefs and do not feel threatened by those who believe something else. But I draw the line at missionizing.
Hence this post publicly calling Hananya out. Many of you, my dear readers, also share Hananya’s enlightening videos, perhaps not aware that besides a love of Israel, he seems to be motivated by a desire to convert us Jews over to Christianity.
Hananya, I truly hope you do not find it hard in the army just because you are Christian. Everyone should be treated equally. And I welcome and encourage your videos in support of Israel.
But please, enough with the missionizing! The damage you are doing to Jewish souls even outweighs the good you are doing for Israel with your videos.
