WATCH: Malcolm Turnbull Backs Netanyahu On Palestinian Statehood

At a press conference after his arrival, Israel PM Binyamin Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s preconditions for a palestinian state: palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state and Israel retaining security control.

When it came time for Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to speak, he mentioned Australia’s policy of supporting a two-state solution based on direct negotiations, with peace and security a must.

He then said the following, which seemed to be a strong statement in support of what the Israeli Prime Minister had just said.

Compare this to the kinds of statements we saw from the Obama administration.

This follows his recent editorial in support of Israel.
