Reader Post: Topsy Turvy Narrative

Mughrabi Bridge wooden rampThe recent events in Israel and their repercussions in London, have prompted me to put pen to paper.

The sheer cheek and temerity needed, to turn a narrative inwards upon itself, and create aggressors out of victims, just incenses me no end.

A quick reality check is in order.

Faced with an ongoing spate of suicide bombings, a security fence was built near what is commonly known as the “Green line” – the armistice line marking the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Jordan in 1967.

These actions, resulted in a dramatic decrease in the number of suicide bombings. They all but ceased to happen, funny that !

Of course, the raison d’être of that security fence has been downplayed and the narrative turned in upon itself. The new paradigm would have us believe that Israel is the “oppressor.”

In 2005, Israel withdrew from Gaza, physically and forcibly removing a Jewish population that was known for its high-yield agriculture.

The infrastructure was left there for the Gazan population, but was destroyed, and sadly, Gaza no longer boasts any real agricultural produce.

Around two years later, Hamas took power in Gaza and they turned their efforts toward producing rockets and bombs with which to drive the Jews of Israel into the sea.

These actions, resulted in the naval blockade of Gaza which had not existed prior to that time.

Of course, the narrative has been turned upon itself, and Israel is portrayed in the world press as “the opressor” of Gaza – the real reason for the blockade conveniently ignored until it becomes a distant memory.

There have been numerous incidents of insidious insipid spin doctoring over the years, all of which can be categorised as follows

  1. There are acts of terror, resulting in the loss of Israeli lives.
  2. Israel takes action to reduce these threats in the most effective and least violent manner possible.
  3. The reason for the Israeli responses is conveniently “forgotten” – and the narrative is turned against Israel who is now labelled as the oppressor.

These three phases are distinct and repetitive ad nauseum, and it appears as if the majority of the human race are actually morons, because despite all the evidence to the contrary – they buy into this B.S !

This latest wave of terror has of course followed the same pattern.

  1. Weapons were smuggled into an Islamic “holy” site – which also happens to be a UNESCO world heritage site. These weapons were used to kill members of the Israeli police force. Not Jews, by the way, but Arabs !
  2. Israel takes action to prevent future repetitions of the same, installing metal detectors to prevent the transfer of weapons into such places.
  3. The Israeli reaction is attacked as “racist” or “opressive” and Israel is scapegoated by the world.

Muslims have been given unfettered access to the dome of the rock and Al Aqsa mosque although people wanting to access the Western Wall plaza have been subjected to metal detectors and x-ray security for many years now.

You don’t hear the Jews complaining that their worshipping is being impeded.

Quite frankly, I am sick of the bias and hate towards Israel.

The Arabs would have Israel (all of it – forget the two state solution) and make it Judenrhein. They say this openly.

Why does the world not believe what they say ?

The world believes what the Arabs say, but that is their goal themselves. As I see it, the best Israeli strategy would be to make life as hazardous for their foreign diplomatic and media accusers as Israelis themselves face. Bring back the Stern Gang!

  2. 1) I don’t think the Druze would care for being identified as Arabs, despite the fact that they generally speak Arabic (as does nearly everybody in the Middle East).

    2) “Why does the world not believe what they say?”
At the end of the day, people generally believe what they want to believe. Hand-waving such inconvenient facts away leaves a situation where the Jewish State is ostensibly in mortal peril and is ostensibly unable to defend itself. Bottom line, that’s the outcome the powers-that-be on Earth apparently want to see.
So they select the facts and half-truths that fit the narrative they like. Without addressing why they feel this way, it is enough to know that they DO feel this way, for the evidence is clear.
Otherwise, there are the millions of people who are not particularly invested in the conflict who are simply parroting the melange of falsehoods that their news feeds and social media echo chambers regurgitate to them. They don’t know any better and have no motivation to learn.
We can demonstrate the facts as loudly and as convincingly as we like, we can’t force people to acknowledge what they’d rather ignore.

  3. Druze do identify as Arabs but many of them in Israel also consider themselves Zionists.

They’re proud Israelis. The Druze trace their religion to Jethro, the father-in-law of Moses, so that’s why they feel deep affinity with Jews and see them as their blood brothers.

They serve in the Israeli army at the request of their leaders as do the Muslim Circassians and the Bedouin Arabs.

  4. Erratum:
the armistice line marking the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Jordan in 1967. -> the armistice line marking the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Jordan in 1948.
