Mahmoud Abbas’ Latest Speech Included Antisemitic Conspiracy Theory

Last night Israel time, I posted about the Jew hatred in Mahmoud Abbas’ speech to the PLO’s Central Committee – denying any Jewish connection to the historical Jewish homeland while suggesting we are all European interlopers.

But the antisemitism apparently did not stop there.

While Abbas is careful here to not mention the Jews (unlike his Organization of Islamic Cooperation speech in December), this is a libel borne out of antisemitism, echoing what Iran’s then-vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi told a forum in 2012.

Iran’s vice president delivered a baldly anti-Semitic speech on Tuesday at an international antidrug conference here, saying that the Talmud, a central text of Judaism, was responsible for the spread of illegal drugs around the world.

Mr. Rahimi, second in line to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said the Talmud teaches to “destroy everyone who opposes the Jews.”

The “Zionists” are in firm control of the illegal drug trade, Mr. Rahimi said, asking foreign dignitaries to research his claims. “Zionists” is Iran’s ideological term for Jews who support the state of Israel.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will pay for anybody who can research and find one single Zionist who is an addict,” Mr. Rahmini said. “They do not exist. This is the proof of their involvement in drugs trade.”

What made his remarks even more striking is that Iran’s fight against illegal drugs is one of the few issues on which the Islamic republic can count on Western sympathy. Iran’s battle to stop the flow of drugs coming in from neighboring Afghanistan has often been mentioned as a potential field of cooperation during negotiations over the country’s nuclear program

By the way, there has been an upward trend in drug use among the palestinians. But it is not the fault of the Jooooooos. Even this article by a palestinian journalist reinforces this, as well as the fact Israel cooperates with the PA to hand over suspects who escaped into Israeli-controlled territory.

On Feb. 27, the Palestinian police conducted the largest anti-drugs crackdown in its history, in Dura, south of Hebron in the southern West Bank. Police discovered a drugs farm and nursery, and a four-story factory that is fully equipped to produce illegal drugs. According to Irzikat, seeds were grown using advanced techniques such as the appropriate lighting, fertilizers and chemicals for the production of drugs.

He noted, “The factory in Dura belongs to a Palestinian drug trafficker hailing from the city of Beersheba, inside the Green Line, who funds and provides the factory with equipment. Those arrested during the crackdown are from the West Bank. The general prosecution is currently investigating them, but the drug lord is still a fugitive inside the Green Line.”

In answer to the question of the Palestinian Authority‘s (PA) ability to arrest individuals inside the Green Line, Irzikat replied, “We try to arrest them before they cross the Green Line. Yet once they escape, a security dossier proving their involvement in drug trafficking will be prepared. The dossier is then handed over to the military liaison to contact the Israeli side, which in turn takes the necessary measures to either arrest them and hand them over to the Palestinian police or keep them in Israeli jails.”

He added, “Israel hands over suspects who have escaped to Israel from the West Bank to the Palestinian police.”

Abbas likely knows the truth but is sowing the seeds of hatred once again in front of his people. So if you still think this is a man of peace, you are probably on hallucinogens.
