Palestinian propaganda outlet Pal+ has produced a video claiming the main cause of death in Gaza is the water.
Except in a delicious Freudian slip/case of bad spelling, they call it “bulleted” instead of “polluted”!
Note how their source for this information is Ha’aretz. It seems they are not boycotting Israeli news sources.
Also, a look at the source Ha’aretz article reveals a few things.
One, Pal+ is not being truthful. Water pollution is the leading cause of child mortality in Gaza, not general mortality.
And two, Hamas is to blame.
Gaza’s water crisis dates back more than a few years. The Israeli company Mekorot began supplying water to the territory in the 1980s. But since Hamas’ rise to power and the disengagement from Gaza in 2005, and the repetitive fighting since Operation Cast Lead at the turn of 2009 have significantly worsened the situation.
Had Israel not left Gaza, leaving Hamas to take over and regularly attack Israel, this would not be the situation. And even Ha’aretz implies that.
I would add something else that Ha’aretz does not mention: another reason for the poor water situation in Gaza is Hamas diverting funds away from improving the water infrastructure on things like rocket production and terror tunnels.
