Antisemites Allege Jews Have Anointed a Messiah Called Jizkiahu Ben David

I noticed last week how a number of Christian fundamentalist YouTube channels had uploaded videos claiming the Jews proclaimed a guy called Jizkiahu Ben David as the messiah. Here is one such video.

Jew-haters far and wide have seized on to this story, mainly in the comments sections of these videos, speaking about him as the “anti-Christ.” Some, like antisemite and “Messianic” Steve Ben-Nun, have uploaded their own videos parroting the story.

It seems that this all originated from this video uploaded by a Jewish Spanish-speaking channel called Punto Breslev – Estudios Bíblicos.

While I do not know Spanish, the man in the video was speaking about a man in history called Yizkiahu ben David who he argues has been the best candidate for Jewish messiah until now, and not a man who currently lives being announced as the Jewish messiah. I know this because he put out a new video in English explaining this and rebutting the false claim videos.

I also know this for a number of other reasons.

Firstly, in Judaism, there are certain requirements for the Jewish messiah, which include the following that have not been fulfilled:

  • He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel
  • He must rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem
  • He will rule at a time of world-wide peace
  • He will rule at a time when the Jewish people will observe G-d’s commandments
  • He will rule at a time when all people will come to acknowledge and serve one G-d

(These are, by the way, some reasons why Jews do not believe in Jesus as messiah)

So clearly, there can be no messiah today.

Secondly, you’d think if we had anointed the new messiah it would be big news. Yet there has been no mention of this is in the Jewish press or by Rabbis.

Lastly, the videos claiming this Jizkiahu Ben David was announced as messiah are showing footage of a well-known Rabbi called R’ Shlomo Yehuda. Here is some of the footage of his visit to the Western Wall during Passover, being passed as proof he was anointed as messiah.

Crowds have gathered around him because he is well known and respected. To paraphrase The Mandalorian, this is the way of Orthodox Jews.

So there you have it: another example of how Jew-haters latch on to fake news in order to spread vicious lies about us.
