Ella Wayweya a Major Pain for the Israel-Haters

Yesterday, Ella Wayweya received the rank of Major, in the process becoming the highest-ranking female Arab Muslim officer in the IDF.

As Ella tweeted in Arabic:

The happiest moments are when you feel that your dream has become a reality and that the effort you are making to succeed is met with pride. This was the case yesterday when I stood at a moment that I had always sought and dreamed of, being my promotion to the rank of Major in the IDF.

A moment passed to summarize my past and my effort, and place on my shoulders not only a rank, but a responsibility in continuing a mission that is higher than God Himself, which is to serve this country to which I belong as a human being and a citizen.

A historic moment. This is what the IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Ran Kochav, said! And how great it is, the greatness of this country to which I belong, and the knowledge that I put in my heart pulsing forever.

If this is not enough to make the haters’ heads implode, Ella is on record as also saying:

“I live in the State of Israel. So I live here according to the Israeli flag. I will not lie and raise the flag of Palestine. I am Israeli in every way.”

“I am Ella. A woman, an Arab, a Muslim and an Israeli. This is my definition. At the age of 16, I received a blue ID card like every citizen in the State of Israel. It means I am Israeli. I was born here, I live here, I studied here. I do everything here. I am Israeli. For all intents and purposes, and in order to feel it even more, I chose to serve in the IDF.”

“I am one hundred percent Israeli. And very proud of it.”

Ella is highly accomplished and clearly going places.

Captain Ella (Deputy IDF Spokesperson) was born in Qalansawa to a Muslim family. She was educated at Atid School, where she also graduated from high school. She holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in communication from the Netanya Academic College, and a master’s degree with honors in government and political marketing at IDC Herzliya.

In 2010, she established the “Living Together” project – a group that brings together Arabs and Jews in order to create intercultural understanding and coexistence.

Even before her military service, she worked in the field of communications, Captain Ella was a broadcaster on Kol Netanya radio (affiliated with the National College of Netanya) for two years, on the program “Belarabi Achla.”

Captain Ella (Deputy IDF Spokesperson) volunteered for a year of national service at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba in 2011. After that, she volunteered for service in “Israel Defense Forces” in 2013, as the first soldier from the “Triangle” area in the IDF. In light of the sensitivity of the matter, she concealed her service in the Israeli army from her family members and those around her. She completed her training as an exemplary soldier. During her service she participated in many operations. Among them Operation Eitan; also known as Operation Protective Edge; Arabic:” عملية الجرف الصامد“‎, “Black Belt”, “Northern Shield”, “Return of the Brothers” and the wave of violence and terror in 2015.

At the end of 2019, Captain Ella “Ella Waweya” the Arab Muslim, who chose to be an IDF officer, was no longer afraid to say out loud: “The Israeli flag gives me a sense of excitement, belonging and love.”and made her military service public, and began creating “Captain Ella Videos” – a series of informational videos about Israel and the IDF for Arab society

I have a hunch Ella Wayweya will one day be a member of the Knesset. At least I hope she will be.
