Edinburgh City Council to Discuss Gaza Twinning Petition Created by Antisemite

Edinburgh City Council has formally announced that it will discuss a petition calling for the twinning of Gaza with Edinburgh on March 29 (hat tip: Yochi).

The twinning petition author is one Pete Gregson, a rabid antisemite

  • who was expelled from his trade union after being found guilty of antisemitism, after saying the Israeli government exaggerates the Holocaust for political purposes;
  • who once attended a meeting with James Thring, an infamous antisemite linked to former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, who spoke openly and unchallenged about Holocaust denial. At the meeting, Gregson was the guest speaker with a speech titled: “The loss of freedom of speech on Israel, thanks to bogus antisemitism claims”;
  • who opposes the IHRA working definition of antisemitism.

Gregson also organized and spoke at a rally a few days ago outside the City Chambers on Edinburgh’s High Street, coinciding with the council meeting at which the council ultimately made their decision to discuss the twinning petition.

Don’t bother watching the entire yawn-fest. Suffice to say, Gregson showed just how ignorant he is:

not to mention evil:

So it is no surprise that he would start a petition asking Edinburgh to make nice with Hamas (his contact on the Gazan side, Gazan mayor Yahya Sarraj, is a Hamas appointee). He sees them as heroes.

But all decent, moral people should find this morally reprehensible. Please contact the Council either at their website, or leave a comment on Facebook or Twitter to let them know your disgust at the very idea of this.
