In my previous post on the Teach-In: Palestine & BDS 101 webinar, I wrote “there is a chance I may uncover some more “pearls.”” It turns out I wasn’t wrong.
One of the other speakers was Lara Kiswani, executive director of the Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), an anti-Israel group active in the San Francisco bay area, which has taken part in various anti-Israel actions, including trying to prevent the docking of a cargo ship owned by an Israeli company in Oakland in 2014 and in 2021. Kiswani is vehemently anti-West and, of course, anti-Israel. For instance, she has called for Israel’s destruction:
But like rabid Israel-haters before her, Kiswani found it hard to keep her true feelings in. Sure, she did not mention the “J” word, but speaking of “Zionist” hegemony and the “corporate elites” is antisemitic trope 101:
But Kiswani did not end at Israel and the Jews, and attacked the US for its sanctions on Russia, seeing it as a way to “terrorize” them:
Are you seeing a trend with these Israel-haters? They tend to not only be antisemitic, but also anti-US. Kiswani is no exception.
