Al Jizz have released a video about “Gaza’s first and only circus tent.”
Clearly, the claim that Gaza has never had a circus before is meant to emphasize just how much the poor children (and even adults) have suffered under the big, bad Israelis.
But like pretty much everything else Al Jizz puts out – especially when it comes to Israel – it is a clown-faced boldfaced lie.
There have been a fair number of circuses in Gaza over the years.
For instance, back in 2010, British circus group Circus2Gaza put on a show (at the time, I noticed a resemblance between one of the participants and a notorious anti-Zionist-not-antisemite).
Then in 2012, the Egyptian National Circus put on a show in Gaza.
Admittedly, the show was not a fully-blown circus because, Hamas:
The circus came to Gaza on Friday, but getting it there required its own high-wire act.
No women performers were included for fear of offending conservative Palestinians and their Hamas rulers and the high-cost of legal transport prevented animals from taking part.
Now if you were to argue that Al Jizz meant this is the first circus school in Gaza, that is not true either:
They seem to hate the truth almost as much as they hate Israel.
