Anna Rajagopal Loses Summer Job Over Her Hateful Social Media Activity
A week ago, the Jewish social justice group Avodah announced that Anna Rajagopal was joining their team as a social media assistant. Rajagopal could hardly contain her excitement:
But a week can be a long time, especially when you have a history of vile tweets directed against proud Jews who love their homeland. Following Stop Antisemitism crowning her their ‘antisemite of the week’ – as well as a backlash from many more people – it seems Rajagopal might need to flip burgers during the summer instead.
Israellycool reader Dorith confirms this:
After I read that the Avodah organisation had hired this Anna person, I sent a complaint and received the following reply:
Dear Dorith, Thank you for your email and for your concern. After looking more closely into statements made by Anna, we decided their comments were not aligned with Avodah’s mission. Anna was hired in a part-time summer role, but we don’t believe their publicly-shared values align with ours, and we are parting ways. Best, Cheryl
Notice also the tweet at the beginning of this post. Avodah’s tweet announcing her as their new summer employee has been flushed down the memory hole.
This might explain why she lashed out so fiercely against Stop Antisemitism, falsely accusing their director of being at the Capital riots.
By the way, Avodah’s mission is:
Avodah develops lifelong social justice leaders whose work is informed by Jewish values and who inspire the Jewish community to work toward a more just and equitable world.
Clearly they at least now agree Rajagopal’s nasty posts do not align with their “Jewish values” nor do anything to “inspire the Jewish community to work toward a more just and equitable world.”
But the question for me is: what were they thinking hiring her to begin with?
