More goods from Australia, as professional services company PwC Australia has followed the lead of Australia’s largest law firm MinterEllison and withdrawn its support of the Adelaide Festival over the inclusion of antisemites Susan Abulhawa and Mohammed El-Kurd
The firm removed its logo from the Adelaide Festival website on the weekend and issued an all-staff memo on Tuesday explaining its actions in response to speakers Susan Abulhawa and Mohammed El-Kurd.
“A number of you have seen recent media surrounding Adelaide Writers’ Week and the inclusion of two speakers who have previously made hateful and anti-Semitic comments,” the note will say.
“We condemn in the strongest terms any anti-Semitic comments and any suggestion of support for Russia‘s war against Ukraine. We stand with the Jewish and Ukrainian communities who have been understandably hurt by this issue.”
Meanwhile, festival director Louise Adler never responded to my tweet – despite me even retweeting it to her a few times
Hi @louiseadler. Serious question. Are these tweets from Susan Abulhawa and Mohammed El-Kurd not antisemitic? pic.twitter.com/zpO3g6zZDg

And what about this @louiseadler? Just “criticism of #Israel“? https://t.co/pXohtYsomJ

but she did find time to again defend her decision to include the two vile speakers:

retweet Bob Carr, who himself could credibly be called an antisemite:

and retweet this hater who speaks of pressure by “malevolent forces in Australia”:
