No, Sam Smith Did NOT Cancel Israel Concert Due to BDS Pressure

The Israel-haters are celebrating another so-called BDS victory, with Sam Smith cancelling his concert in Israel.

Even regular news and entertainment sites, and Israel advocates have fallen for this narrative, despite the production company stating the cancellation was due to “unforeseen technical and logistical problems on May 31.”

Alas, this seems to be another case of fake news and a fake BDS victory.

I have it on good authority from someone in the entertainment industry that Sam Smith’s show did not sell enough tickets, due to some very poor marketing (in fact, the entire bill might be scrapped). For example, putting him and Papa Roach (who was announced despite not yet being booked) on the same bill made no sense to begin with.

The fact Sam himself has had nothing to say about boycotting Israel further reinforces this. If he was truly making a political statement, he would likely comment. If it is, as I have been told, due to poor ticket sales, this is something he would be reticent to comment on.
