A Jew-hater has been arrested in Vaughan, Canada after intimidating Jews walking home from synagogue on Shabbat and then spitting at them and making antisemitic comments.
And naturally, he is a real piece of work with a criminal record.
A man with a criminal record has been charged in a suspected hate-motivated and anti-Jewish assault in Vaughan.
York Regional Police say on Saturday at 1:45 p.m., four adults who identify as Jewish were walking home from a synagogue in the area of Bathurst St. and Flamingo Rd. when a man on a electric bike approached the group.
“The victims felt intimidated by the manner in which the suspect operated the bike in their presence,” police said in a release Tuesday.
“An argument ensued, during which the suspect spat at the group and made anti-Semitic comments before he rode away.”
A suspect was identified and was arrested a few hours later.
Kenneth Jeewan Gobin, 34, of Vaughan, is charged with two counts of assault and one count of breach of probation.
In 2012, Gobin was sentenced for a 2007 carjacking that terrorized the woman victim, with Mississauga.com reporting at the time that the judge said the then 23-year-old had “demonstrated no remorse.” Gobin received three years but with credit for time served was to spend 20 months in jail, the news outlet reported.
Whatever punishment he receives, I take some comfort knowing he has Jeewan in his name.
