Amazon Web Services (AWS) is feeling the heat following the negative publicity surrounding their senior Vice President Ruba Borno wearing a necklace showing “Palestine” instead of Israel in a promotional video for an upcoming conference.
As the New York Post reports:
An Amazon executive wore a necklace in a company video that featured a pendant in the shape of the map of Israel with a Palestinian flag imposed on top of it — sparking outrage on social media, with users vowing to cancel their Prime subscriptions and demanding that the executive be fired.

Amazon said it has taken down the video.
“The video shot was not meant to be a political statement, but we’ve taken down the video and will repost a new one in the coming days,” an Amazon spokesperson told The Post.

“Vile. This is unacceptable and warrants immediate termination,” an X commenter, Alex Wilner, wrote.

Borno made her X posts private in response to the backlash.
Borno herself seems to also be under a huge amount of pressure. Since the above report, she has deleted her X and LinkedIn accounts:

Meanwhile, I have it on good authority that ethics complaints have been submitted to her employer, including by her fellow Amazon employees.

It looks like that by wiping Israel off the map, she might just have wiped herself out of a job.
