It is easy to criticize the mainstream media and point out the biased, non-factual reporting, especially when it comes to Israel and Gaza. I do it occasionally, while organizations like Honest Reporting and Camera do it all the time.
So it is refreshing to be able to highlight something positive from a mainstream media outlet, one which has shown gross anti-Israel bias in the past, no less.
Behold, the West Australian, the newspaper of my birthplace, debunking the ‘14,000 babies in Gaza will die within 48 hours’ libel:
True, I didn’t like him stating that “The killing of innocent civilians in Palestine has to stop,” because it makes it sound like Israel is killing innocent civilians for shits’n’giggles, and such a simplistic statement does not convey the complexity of fighting against a terror organization that uses its own people as human shields. Plus, “Palestine.” I would have prefered to hear him say something along the lines of “The killing of innocent civilians in Gaza is a tragedy brought on by Hamas, one which can stop immediately with the release of all remaining hostages.”
But perhaps that is too much to expect from the West Australian. So let’s take what we can get for now, and encourage more reporting like this trending towards accuracy.
