In March 2024, I applauded legendary comedian John Cleese for complimenting an anti-Hamas (and palestinian terror supporter) joke.
This is fine comedy, and the laughter of an intelligent audience says everything https://t.co/7vV4qZqY14

As I wrote at the time:
Not that this should be the only reason Jew-haters and Israel-haters would be triggered by him. He agreed to appear in an Israeli film back in 2012, but had to pull out for medical reasons, appeared in an Israeli commercial, and performed a show here in 2019 (in which he revealed that one of his two daughters is married to a Jew and that he has Jewish grandchildren).
Alas, this all now seems for naught as John Cleese seems to have flipped – in a big, bad way:

Suggesting the Jewish state is evil, worse than the Nazis, and in control of the US President and the media goes beyond fair criticism of Israel. As does suggesting Zionists cannot be Jews.

Ugh, this one really hurts.
It’s sad, really. A man once celebrated for his sharp mind and humour now parrots the dumbest, darkest conspiracy tropes imaginable.
Meanwhile, want to hear a good joke?
