Following the release of his new version of Comfortably Numb featuring palestinian Arab singer Mona Miari, Wired has interviewed antisemitic old codger Roger Waters.
And in the interview, he beats the old drum of rejecting he is an antisemitic old codger.
Waters has spent nearly two decades as an outspoken supporters of Palestinian rights. Alongside that activism have come repeated accusations of anti-Semitism from organisations including the UK-based Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), allegations he has consistently rejected.
Waters says the accusations have followed him for years. Recalling the aftermath of concerts he played in London on 8-9 October 2023, he says a video released by the CAA was followed by difficulties securing accommodation while touring South America. “I’ve been experiencing the big attacks on people, like, for instance, ‘You can’t stay in our hotel’, that’s all over South America – not all over, but in Argentina and Uruguay and Colombia,” he says.
Asked what he says to people who continue to view his work through the lens of anti-Semitism, Waters doesn’t stutter: “F*ck off is my answer to that.”
“Exactly,” Miari says beside him.
Waters continues, his frustration evident in his delivery. “I don’t have an anti-Semitic bone in my body, I never did and I never will have. I couldn’t give a sh*t what your religion is, frankly. I’m not interested in it. I’m interested in human rights for my brothers and sisters, whoever they are. Colour of the skin, religion, nationality, politics – I couldn’t care less.”
Almost as quickly, the intensity softens. “Sorry to get a bit hot under the collar,” he says.
“You know I love it,” Miari laughs.
Judging by the way Mona Miari reacts to Roger Waters here, it seems she is the one getting a bit hot under the collar. I would suspect she might live up to her name here if given the chance with her washed-up singing partner.
But I digress. The idea of Waters as a raging antisemite is not controversial. It is plain to anyone listening to him. Lucky for all of you, I compiled proof of this three years ago:
And this isn’t even the half of it – given he has provided even more proof since then, such as this:
The vile @rogerwaters can claim he is not antisemitic all he likes, but he has again proven he is antisemitic to his rotten core.

So no, Roger doesn’t have an antisemitic bone in his body. He’s got all 206 of them, plus 900 ligaments, tendons, and cartilages, making him – as Polly Samson once famously put it – “antisemitic to his rotten core.”
Roger, nobody’s buying the “not an antisemitic bone in my body” routine anymore, especially since the rest of the skeleton is so thoroughly compromised. At this point it’s less a bone to pick with you and more a full-body diagnosis.
So do us all a favor and take your own advice. F*ck off.
