That Israeli Apartheid Again on Passover

Thousands and thousands of Israelis, Jewish tourists and others from all over the world traveled to Jerusalem, Israel, to the Western Wall on the Passover holiday for the traditional priestly blessing.  The scene was so crowded as to be perfect for a ‘Where’s Waldo” or “Where’s Wally” book.

Ehtiopian leaders under colorful umbrellas

Ethiopian religious leaders who arrived under colorful umbrellas had to move slowly through the mob. Yet no matter how many Israelis crowd the streets, it never ceases to amaze me that:

Arab children in Jerusalem walking freely

Arab children are allowed to roam through the Jaffa Gate Plaza alone.

Arab women and children walking on Habad Street

Arab women with babies and young children have no fear to be out and about.

Muslim women in Jerusalem

Though sometimes they do have to walk to the side on crowded paths.

Two Arab girls walking in Jerusalem

And as always, the Arab girls were out in Mamilla Mall with the Passover crowds: they go freely where they want and no one bothers them.

Tourist dressed in African garments in Jerusalem

Wouldn’t it be nice if these African tourists would report back what the Jerusalem streets are really like to Desmond Tutu. But too bad–they were already on their way to the Old City and missed this scene.

Mamilla Mall security for holiday

Three Arab school girls passed security into Mamilla Mall with their back packs and sports equipment, no one stopped them, and no one asked them to open the bags.

Another Israel Apartheid fail day in Jerusalem.

Real Jstreets

I lived in the United States, Canada and Australia before moving to Israel in the midst of the Second Lebanon War. For the last ten years, walking the streets of Jerusalem, the scenes I saw every day did not resemble the ones familiar in the Western media. Now I try to share those positive images with the world, what is really happening in Jerusalem, Israel, The Real Jerusalem Streets
