Know Your History: The Reunification of Jerusalem and The Jewish Connection

With UNESCO’s latest deplorable decision the latest example of the world trying to erase the Jewish connection to our holiest sites, it bears reminding that there was a time this would have been unheard of.

Back in 1967, following our victory in the Six Day War and the reunification of Jerusalem, the newspapers of the day really captured the Jewish connection to the Old City, especially the Temple Mount and Western Wall.

For instance, this New York Times report from June 8th, 1967.
