Roger Waters Goes After Bob Dylan

Rock’n’roll BDS-hole Roger Waters has again shown his nasty side – which seems to be his only side, actually – with an attack on rock legend Bob Dylan (hat tip: Steve).

In a new interview, alongside lambasting President Donald Trump, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters has taken shots at Bob Dylan concerning the nature of his recent album releases.

Talking to Billboard about his new solo album, the first in 25 years, called ‘Is This The Life We Really Want?’ the former Pink Floyd frontman went after Bob Dylan during the long-form interview.

Speaking about the recurring theme of war across Waters’ collected discography, the singer-songwriter said, digging at Dylan, “I haven’t got time to do an album of Frank Sinatra covers.”

Waters expanded, saying; “Bob Dylan, for instance, which is weird. You go, “Fuck me Bob, what is wrong with you? Why would you do that?” I guess it’s because he can’t bear the thought of not being on the road and he couldn’t think of anything else to do. I can’t believe he really has an affinity for all that schlock. But maybe he does.”

Waters is referring to Dylan’s recent releases which consist primarily of covers of classic American songs, including Frank Sinatra cuts.

I am assuming Waters is no fan of Dylan at least partially because the latter has been working against Waters’ BDS targeting of artists. And because he is responsible for what I believe to be the best pro-Israel song of all time.

  1. And because he’s jealous, he thinks he’s the one that deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. And because he can’t always disguise his antisemitism.

My guess would be, as his father was a frustrated professional musician, Roger has it in his head that Jews thwarted dear old dad- because Jews control the entertainment industry- worldwide, dontcha’ know. That’s obviously why I’VE had such a fabulous career in entertainment…

That’s a slippery slope. I don’t particularly like Roger Waters or his music, but not supporting the current state of Israel (many Jews don’t) is not the same as being anti-Semitic. It’s subtle, but true. No state is perfect. The only way to actually change that is to admit it and work towards change. Waters’ rants don’t help. Neither does this kind of rush to conclusions that could send the whole dialogue into a clichéd and completely unhelpful direction.

      1. “many jews dont”
polls say the above is not factual
therefore your premise is not based on fact and cannot be supported as an argument that waters is not a filthy jew hating bastard

    1. his father only fought the Na.zis when he realized his life was on the line, like so many in Europe he was fine when the Germans were going around and gathering up Jews and shipping them off to who knows where, but when he realized “he” was a target that is when he decided to fight them, kind of like how the Pro-Palestinian people are in todays age, they are fine wihen the “Palestinians” and the Arabs killing the Jews, but if they are a target they are going to have an issue with it

Really! I don’t like any of what Roger Waters has said about Israel, but to say he is an ‘obsessed Jew hater devoted to…terror’ isn’t really true either. Not true at all. This kind of hysteria is what made the Nazis so powerful. Please. Tolerance. Let’s not be like RW.

Roger is just so Jealous of Bob Dylan, same as people were Jealous of The Lord Jesus. I noticed Roger copies Bob Dylan in his own ways, and mentions him often. Roger lacks serious Bible Knowledge and Wisdom and he’s not gonna know what to do in his latter end, but, poor Roger, he does flatter !

  3. As a jazzer of long standing,I appreciate the great american song book.Sinatra is the srandard source as is Ella.So if I wish to hear that material,I will listen to them. But as they are dead,it is expedient to have younger folk sing and buy.Hence Dylan,Rod Stuart etc.Waters may be valid within his own music, but he is not the saviour of music. Also he should leave other musicians to decide where they appear.

  4. he went after dylan, sinatra and pop standards
he has no respect for music, which may be why he is now fronting a glorified cover band and his new album sounds exactly like 70s floyd
and variety agrees with me about the sound of the new album

the comment about dylan came as a response to why he sings so much about war.
the fact is, the major themes in waters’ more successful music have been about war and madness and were apolitical….until he saw he could make a buck being political
variety claims that he is “rocks angriest man”, when actually his is rocks most guilt ridden man.
he has survivor guilt over his father’s death in ww2 and guilt over doing nothing to help the man who gave him a career and the fact that syd’s descent into madness provided him most of his material
waters is a sad man and his new album is sad
and im shocked that audiences are dishing out up to 250 bux to watch another rehashed floyd show,
as elvis costello said in “the other side of summer”
“A poor little schoolboy who said “we don’t need no lessons”
