The implication that Israel is engaged in ethnic cleansing is vile, yet such a mainstay of anti-Israel discourse. But I actually wanted to draw attention to something else about this cartoon: It shows the extent of the ignorance of these Israel-haters, who cannot even get basic facts correct.
Israel is not settling in Gaza. In fact, Israel unilaterally left Gaza in 2005 (only to be greeted with increased terrorism emanating from there and elsewhere). Before Israel captured Gaza in the 1967 Six Day War of self defense, it had been occupied by Egypt. Funnily enough, no-one was crying about Gaza being under occupation back then.
I assume Wilcox confused Gaza with Sheik Jarrah, the Jerusalem neighborhood in which the property dispute has been used a pretext for Hamas to fire rockets at Israeli civilians. Her conflation of the two shows just how embarrassingly ignorant she is.
And she is not alone – it is a common denominator among so many Israel-haters. Hatred of Jews is another one.
