How desperate does the mainstream media seem to be to portray Gaza as a normal place filled with everyday, normal people?
This desperate.

Now don’t get me wrong. I am sure there are many great people in Gaza, just wanting to go about their lives normally. But you cannot ignore the fact there are many really evil people there, plotting on murdering Jews living in Israel and succeeding at times. Heck, Gaza is run by these very people.
The same Gazans trying to murder us use as human shields those not (actively) trying to murder us – with or without their blessings. This might include Burger Lady for all we know.
Although Reuters is trying to completely sanitize Gaza, the video actually does reveal some home truths. Here we have a woman operating a burger stall, speaking about it as if she has been chosen for a NASA mission. This is the stark reality for Gazan women – they cannot aim too high because Hamas and the patriarchal society keep them down. The fact she receives criticism for what she does is telling.
Also she is proud of the fact her burgers are similar in taste to those of McDonalds. The less I comment on that, the better.
Now imagine for a second the mainstream media would run a similar feature about an Israeli woman with a food stall. It is hard to, because it wouldn’t happen – times have truly changed. But if it happened, the haters would be accusing us of yet more food appropriation. Meanwhile, no-one is suggesting Burger Lady has culturally appropriated hamburgers.
