Earlier today, the IDF stated that it would be undergoing a “precise and targeted” operation inside Gaza’s Shifa hospital, where terrorists are operating. The statement was as follows:
🔴 Operational Update:
— Israel Defense Forces (@IDF) November 15, 2023
IDF forces are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital, based on intelligence information and an operational necessity.
The IDF is conducting a ground operation in Gaza to defeat Hamas and…
Notice this sentence:
The IDF forces include medical teams and Arabic speakers, who have undergone specified training to prepare for this complex and sensitive environment, with the intent that no harm is caused to the civilians being used by Hamas as human shields.
Clearly, the IDF was conveying the pains we are going to in order to help Gazan civilians and avoid civilian casualties. But this BBC presenter has completely misrepresented the IDF’s statement to make it look like the IDF is deliberately targeting Arabic speakers and medical personnel!
What the actual fuck @bbcnews?!

You’re happily disseminating Hamas propaganda without bothering to check its veracity
Israel WILL NOT be targeting medical teams. Hamas terrorists are hiding in the hospital
How many times must you fuck up before you learn your lesson? pic.twitter.com/FNqkXPYX4e
I find it hard to believe she deliberately mangled the statement (although you never know with the BBC). My inclination is to believe this was a negligent mistake brought on by unconscious anti-Israel bias of the presenter (or whoever wrote what she read out).
Either way, this is insane and cannot go unchallenged. The BBC needs to immediately apologize and retract this on-air.
Meanwhile, this satire is looking more and more too close to the truth.

15/11/23 11:30: Since the newsreader quoted Reuters, it is important to ascertain whether it was Reuters or the BBC who messed up.
It was the BBC.

15/11/23 11:55: The presenter seems to be Monica Miller and it’s not her first gaffe.
Will we see such a tweet from her again?
Earlier today, as I was wrapping up a story, I accidently said the wrong name on air – I meant to say the Scottish National Party. Apologies for any confusion. Thank!@FionaDuffin3 @enigmaticbhoy @AnnSkelly3 @geonicholson22 @TomlinJeanne @Indy4Scotss @BBCScotlandNews

15/11/23 12:20: BBC has apologized on-air:
WATCH@bbcnews have just issued an on air apology (again) for their report last night that stated the ‘IDF are targeting medical teams and Arab speakers’

Not good enough. Time and again they defame & smear Israel and think a simple apology will suffice after the damage is done pic.twitter.com/GMQUUMfcHw
