Palestinian Arab propaganda expert Hanan Ashrawi has thanked football star Ronaldo for “standing with Palestine,” retweeting a video in which he speaks up for the “children of Gaza”:
A heartwarming ray of hope from a person of courage & conscience. Thank you Ronaldo 🙏🏽🇵🇸❤️ https://t.co/naMzDHgvUm

There’s just one problem. The video is fake, altered from an actual video in which Ronaldo speaks up for the children of Syria. And even many of Ashrawi’s fellow Israel-haters point this out to her.
Ronaldo is playing for a Saudi team and since then he has never expressed support for Palestine.

Sorry Mrs. Ashrawi 💔 https://t.co/DK42HeWkaJ

This fake video has actually been around for a while, and even Reuters felt the need to debunk it back in November 2023.
Now remember, this is coming from a senior palestinian Arab former politician and activist, who would get up on the world stage to accuse Israel of everything under the sun. It goes to show the level of thought and care she puts into verifying things before passing them off as fact.
As for poor Ronaldo, he has for a long time been the subject of fakery by Israel-haters wanting to claim he is on their side, as I have shown on here time and again. But he certainly does not hate Israel (and might just even really like us). How else do you explain his buying an Israeli jet, starring in multiple advertisements for Israeli telecommunications company HOT, starring in a campaign for Israel’s Magen David Adom, and meeting with then Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, gifting him a shirt?
Meanwhile, Ashrawi did not delete the tweet but she did apologize for the video, conceding in typically euphemistic fashion that it was “edited.”
