Israel Hater Antony Loewenstein Might Have To Hightail It Out Of Israel

It seems his BDS-holing has come to the attention of the Government Press Office, following the Honest Reporting expose’ of his activities.

“L” is also for leaving?

A journalist who has allegedly engaged in activity supportive of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement may not be able to remain in Israel, the Government Press Office told The Jerusalem Post exclusively on Sunday.

GPO director Nitzan Chen said he was leaning against renewing the press card of Antony Loewenstein, a Jerusalem- based freelance reporter who writes for The Guardian and other publications. If the card is not renewed when it expires in March, the Interior Ministry will not allow him to remain in Israel.

“We are leaning toward recommending that his work permit not be renewed due to suspected BDS activity,” Chen said. “We are checking the incident because unfortunately, the journalist did not give enough information to our staff. We will learn to check better so there won’t be such incidents in the future.

Foreign Press Association chairman Josef Federman, who is the Associated Press’s bureau chief, said, “Mr. Loewenstein was accepted as an associate, nonvoting member of the FPA based on his career as a freelance journalist. While we do not endorse his views, we also do not screen our members for their opinions.”

Lapid praised the GPO’s move. “Freedom of speech and freedom of the media are key in a democracy likes ours, but that doesn’t extend to BDS activists pretending to be journalists,” he said. “It harms Israel and it harms the media.

This is another example of the lies of the BDS movement. We have a duty to protect ourselves from people who seek to demonize and delegitimize the State of Israel.”

The GPO speaks about “suspected” BDS activity, but it is very clear Loewenstein is involved. You can read about his support for BDS here on his site, which includes a link to an article of his that could not make it much clearer, entitled Personally supporting BDS against Israel.

I support BDS as a human being first and a Jew second. Don’t believe the false rhetoric from the corporate press, some politicians and media as well as the Zionist lobby that BDS is anti-Semitic or discriminatory. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at the leading US Israel lobby conference this year, slammed BDS backers as “bigots”. It was a desperate move from a leader and movement, Zionism, that is increasingly known globally as occupiers and brutes.

BDS is working, removing the legitimacy of a nation that claims to be a democracy but oppresses millions of Palestinians every day. I have seen this with my own eyes in Israel proper, the West Bank and Gaza.

Believe me when I say that growing numbers of Jews worldwide are uncomfortable with blind support for Israel. Ferocious debates within the Jewish community in the US are a weekly affair. It bodes well for a future when justice for all Jews and Palestinians is possible and both peoples can live free from racism in the name of Zionism.

When the US-led “peace process” is a sham designed to benefit Israel and the Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop refuses to condemn Israeli colonies in the West Bank, BDS is one answer. It challenges the occupier and the forces that support it, demanding equality and punishing the individuals and groups, such as Sodastream, that aim to financially benefit.

BDS is growing and I’m proud to be part of a global movement that’s led by the Palestinians most directly affected.

And for those who can’t be bothered reading:

But it is actually worse than this. You see, Loewenstein also cannot seem to utter the “t” word, characterizing what Hamas does as “resistance.”

As well as defending them.

And this is in addition to his infamous antisemitic comment.

In the meantime, Loewenstein is playing this as a “freedom of speech issue.”

But it isn’t. Loewenstein is actively working to undermine Israel, and his support of BDS and defense of Hamas actions goes beyond merely “challenging” speech.

Meanwhile, this is how this “campaigner for free speech” reacted to my last post.
