It’s “As-A-Jew” Liberation Seder Time!

With Passover almost upon us, it is that time of the year again for the As-a-Jews (and Not-Really-Jews) to get together and co-opt this very Zionist of Jewish holidays for their own really messed up, anti-Zionist agenda.

According to the event website:

Join JVP for a Liberation Seder on Monday, April 14 at 5:30pm, co-sponsored by IfNotNow, JFREJ, Rabbis for Ceasefire, and Shoresh. We will bring thousands into the streets of NYC on Passover to say: Stop arming Israel. End Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Free Palestine. Free political prisoners held by ICE. Stop the attacks on immigrants, trans people, and students.

Right now, the Israeli military is carpet-bombing Gaza and using starvation as a weapon of war as it continues to murder Palestinians with impunity. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is waging an all-out war against our movements. Since taking office, Trump has issued executive orders to dismantle the fundamental rights of trans people, expanded ICE’s power and ramped up raids, and abducted non-citizen student activists in retaliation for their political speech.

In NYC, federal agents recently abducted Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist, graduate of Columbia University and permanent resident. Trump boasted about the abduction, claiming it was for the purpose of fighting antisemitism. But we know this warmongering administration led by Nazis has zero concern for the safety of Jews, and is using our people as cover for its fascist agenda. We refuse to be divided or silenced.

Trump’s crackdown on the movement for Palestinian liberation goes hand in hand with the endless flow of US weapons and funding to Israel. As Jews of conscience, we remain steadfast in our commitment to Palestinian freedom, to protecting the right to protest, and to defending immigrants, trans people, and all those under attack by the Trump regime.

Throughout history, Jews have adapted the Passover seder to meet urgent political conditions, such as with the Freedom Seder of 1969, on the first anniversary of Dr. King’s murder. Genocide and fascism carried out in our name as Jews demands that we adapt our sacred tradition yet again, take to the streets, and do everything we can to prevent more death.

This holiday of liberation, we recommit to registering our refusal as loudly and proudly as we can. We will not stand by as this fascist regime attempts to criminalize Palestinians and all those calling for an end to the Israeli government’s genocide of the Palestinian people. And we will never stop fighting for a free Palestine.

RSVP here to receive location next week or check the @jvpny Instagram for location updates.

Know before you go:

The seder will be in Manhattan. Exact location will be shared on @jvpny Instagram and sent to those who RSVP closer to the event.

Out of respect for those being starved in Gaza, there will be no Shulchan Orech or festive meal.

Participants will either sit on the ground or stand for the seder. There will be limited seating for those needing chairs. For those sitting on the ground, feel free to bring something with you to make sitting more comfortable.

Please wear your red Stop Arming Israel shirt if you have one, or just wear red. Leave signs at home.

This action is organized by Jews; all are welcome.

A number of brief observations:

  1. The Passover seders in the Diaspora this year are supposed to be held Saturday night April 12 and Sunday night April 13. So they have naturally scheduled theirs on the wrong day. At least it is not scheduled for Hitler’s birthday like last year!
  2. Besides the lies, not a word about the hostages from these supposed “Jews of conscience.”
  3. A Passover seder without the actual meal. Idiots.
  4. You have to love the “all are welcome” at the end of the description. Meanwhile, “this event’s address is private”, and you need to sign up for more details. No doubt they will be screening for Zionists, so they can bar them from attending.

While these are all the details I have been able to find – the hagadah has not been leaked online like in past years – one can just imagine the ignorant shenanigans they will get up to. We have, after all, seen in previous years back-to-front Hebrew, mockery of Judaism, and the wrong blessing being recited..
