Tourism to Israel took a huge hit during Operation Protective Edge. Those tourists who came had a great time, but there were many, many cancellations. Numbers were way down.
So today when I saw impressive lines of luggage outside a Jerusalem, Israel hotel I stopped to take a photo
and went inside to see what was happening.
John Hagee ministries were not just on the road to Jerusalem,
but John Hagee and his wife were seen in the Old City leading busloads of tourists.
Today the Tourism Ministry Director-General Amir Halevi wrote to the chairman of the Israel Incoming Tour Operators Association Shmuel Marom:
“In the light of Operation Protective Edge and its impact on the tourism industry, the Tourism Ministry intends to take a number of immediate measures in order to create a higher degree of certainty for you, the incoming tour operators, related to the anticipated government assistance in order to increase activities in the field for your members… it is our intention to act immediately on an internal decision that does not require the approval of the Finance Ministry, within the existing frameworks.
One measure is to double the international marketing fund to NIS 10 million through the end of 2014.
So special welcome to those who came with Hagee, your timing could not be better.
